About the North East LEP
The North East Local Enterprise Partnership works to deliver more and better jobs for everyone.

We are responsible for delivering the North East Strategic Economic Plan, to influence and shape the continued economic growth of the area. As part of the Strategic Economic Plan, we have an ambitious business growth programme to help us create more and better jobs which focuses on the opportunities in the North East LEP area to drive business growth through start-up, scale-up and inward investment.

Today’s economy is more turbulent than ever before, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought one of the biggest economic shocks of our lifetimes, with no straight-forward recovery. Helping businesses to stay operational, adopt new ways of working and explore new opportunities is vital for business stability and to keep people in employment. We also need to continue to support growing businesses and increase the density of fast-growing businesses. High growth small businesses have very significant economic and employment impacts on our economy.

Our goal is to increase the number of scale up businesses in the North East LEP area by 50% to create an additional 6,000 jobs.
