Job role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join North Tyneside Council’s, Local Environmental Services Team as a Horticulture and Parks, Operational Manager.

The Horticulture and Parks Operational Manager post is responsible for managing the borough’s parks, and delivering grounds maintenance services across our green spaces, our fabulous coastline, miles of wagonways and housing estates. The post is also responsible for the management of play sites, allotments and trees across North Tyneside, ensuring services are delivered to the highest operational standards.

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated, inspirational, energetic individual with a proven ability to lead, develop and motivate teams. The successful applicant will have significant experience in leading a large multi-disciplinary workforce delivering frontline Environmental Services and will be committed to delivering the council’s ambition for a great place to live, work and visit.

You will have significant knowledge and technical experience in horticulture and will have experience of managing budgets and very high standards of health and safety and performance management. You will strive to improve service delivery and be committed to creating a culture of learning and development across the service.

We’ll expect you to have excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to work collaboratively with other council services and external partners to implement service improvements.
You will be committed to delivering a great customer experience, providing high quality customer focused environmental services in line with the council’s Customer Service Programme.

• A starting salary of £41,881 rising to £46,845 pa
