Your opportunity to join our ‘Outstanding’ Company and make a difference!

We are proud that Together for Children has been rated as ‘outstanding’ in a judgement by Ofsted in 2021 in recognition of the stability of our very well supported and talented workforce who deliver an unstinting commitment to improving children’s outcomes. Join us and help us in continuing our outstanding journey!

Together for Children delivers children’s services on behalf of Sunderland City Council and works to develop modern and responsive services that make a difference for children and families in Sunderland. Our Children’s Services Legal Team are looking for Solicitors to join part of a growing team in Sunderland.

As a Solicitor working for Together for Children, you will take responsibility for managing your own caseload and undertake a range of child protection legal work for children’s services including providing advice, drafting documents, undertaking research and advocacy at court. You will work closely with your Team colleagues and social care managers and staff to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient legal service.

To be successful you must be a qualified and practising solicitor or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (with litigation advocacy rights). Ideally you will have at least two years post qualifying experience within child protection law but we will consider candidates who meet the qualification criteria who want to move into this area of practice.

You must be able to manage a demanding caseload and be able to deliver to competing deadlines. The role is wide-ranging, challenging and complex so you will also need to be resilient, tenacious and thrive in a fast paced environment. The Team works on an agile basis across home and office bases.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is ambitious and wants to support the Team and Together for Children as a whole on its improvement journey.
