Split shifts
Monday-Thursday 6:45 am -11:00 am & 3:00 pm -18:15 pm
Friday 6:45 am -11:00 am & 3:00 pm -17:45 pm

The Headteacher and Governing Body of Ryhope Junior School are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, reliable and self-motivated Site Supervisor to join our friendly and hardworking school team from 1st September 2021.

The successful applicant will be responsible to the Headteacher and School Business Manager for the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the building and grounds and someone with a good general skill-set to lead on general maintenance, including DIY, site security and cleaning. You will be responsible for undertaking regular health and safety checks of buildings, grounds, fixtures and fittings, which will also include ensuring all statutory inspections are completed in line with schedules.

The person appointed will have total commitment towards maintaining a positive, clean and safe environment for young people, staff and visitors.

Applications are welcome from experienced caretakers or those considering a change of career with the skills and attitude we are looking for.

Duties will include:
• To act as a key-holder
• Open and close the school each day and carry out security checks
• Carry out and record statutory checks and maintain health and safety checks
• Maintenance of property and grounds to a high standard including liaising with contractors
• Monitor site stock and order supplies
• Carry out maintenance and repairs as required
• To complete other tasks as set out in the job description


The successful candidate will be keen to maintain our school environment to a high standard to support children’s learning. They should be able to work effectively as part of the team, look after the safety and cleanliness of the site. The successful candidate will also have the ability to work on their own initiative in recognising jobs that require attention, prioritising their own workload and willing to undertake training and development.

Please note that all holidays associated with this post will need to be taken during school holiday time.
