The Mowbray Day Centre is a Northumberland County Council Adult Care Service providing care and support to people with learning and physical disabilities in south east Northumberland. 

We are committed to providing a person-centred service for adults with a learning disability through the provision of daytime activities and person-centred care and support. 

The service aims to offer opportunities for service users to contribute positively to the community, access activities which offer high quality relaxation, and develop and maintain relationships. 

We work in partnership with other agencies to ensure service users get the support they need to live healthy, safe, and fulfilling life. 

The service aims to promote the principles of Valuing People and Valuing People Now, with a focus on rights, independence, choice, and inclusion for people with a learning disability and/or autism. 

An exciting opportunity has become available for a 35 hr permanent Cook working at the Mowbray Day Centre. 

As the Cook you will play a key role in the operational running of the services kitchen to provide a Lunchtime meal and refreshment to the service users and staff at the day centre. 

The role will involve you in supervising the work of a Catering Assistant and in assisting a small number of service user along with care workers in the kitchen to produce Bakery Good as part of the service trading activity Mowbray Bakes.   

You will have experience of working in a catering environment and food preparation and cooking and should have knowledge of Health and Safety legislation relating to a catering environment and demonstrate a wiliness to work as part of a team and be flexible in the nature of the duties performed to support the success of the trading activity. 

You should have some experience in a similar role and possess a Basic food hygiene certificate or nationally recognised qualification in food preparation and cooking. 

The salary for this position is £19312 - 19698 pro rata
