Further Information
The Children’s Services Department within Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council provides an out of hours Emergency Duty Social Work Service, covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays, to all five Tees Valley Local Authorities. This service is generic across both Adults and Children. Applications will only be accepted from qualified Social Workers currently employed by one of the five Tees Valley Local Authorities; Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough, Darlington, Hartlepool and Redcar and Cleveland.

Hours of work will be determined by the requirements of the Service and you will be offered a number of shifts across the year. There is an expectation that the different shifts will be shared equally across the bank of sessional workers. The shifts will include weekday evenings Monday to Thursday, Friday evenings, weekend day and evening shifts (Saturday and Sunday), and all Bank Holidays.

You must have a relevant professional qualification in social work, significant experience in Children’s Services, Adult Services, or both, and be registered with Social Work England. You must be able to demonstrate significant post-qualification experience in childcare, child protection work or hold an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) status under Mental Health Legislation. Generic workers and workers with AMHP status are particularly welcome to apply.

You will bring with you a proven track record of success, be able to effectively communicate in a multi-agency environment and have the ability to risk manage complex situations. A working knowledge of an out of hour’s service would be preferable.

In addition, you will need drive and enthusiasm to work in this strategically important service at a time of increasing demands, challenges, and service developments.
