We are seeking an experienced, pro-active self-starter with commercial experience to join our expanding team. Driven by a passion for helping businesses you will work with manufacturing sector business leaders to help identify and understand the challenges and opportunities to be gained from the adoption of Industrial Digital Technology (IDT – ‘Industry 4.0’).

Building on the activities of our existing Growth Hub Connectors, the successful candidate will work with a diverse range of businesses to:
• Objectively diagnose their current use of technology, and the opportunities afforded by adopting IDT tools.
• Where IDT is deemed by the business to be not appropriate at this stage, offer independent and impartial brokerage to business support and finance solutions that will help businesses remove barriers, build resilience and implement their plans.
• Support businesses as they develop their IDT Roadmaps, help them to identify and work with technical specialists, and, where appropriate, apply for grant funding for their initial IDT implementation projects.

Growth Hub Connectors are passionate about supporting businesses to fulfil their potential, they area trusted and impartial broker to business support and finance solutions and are drive solely by the needs of businesses.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, experienced in business development and able to demonstrate an understanding of the drivers and barriers of business growth, improvement and resilience. Experience of the manufacturing sector (and in particular, automotive supply chain, offshore & wind generation, or chemical and process industries) would be an advantage, as would knowledge of the core and enabler technologies described in the Made Smarter Review.

This role’s primary focus will be in delivering part of the region’s Made Smarter programme. We are working in partnership with Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA), who are also recruiting a similar role ( https://www.northeastjobs.org.uk/job/Growth_Consultant/207723 ) to work with businesses based in the Tees Valley.

High growth small businesses have very significant economic and employment impacts on our economy.
Therefore, our goal is to increase the number of scale up businesses in the area by 50% and creating an addition 6,000 jobs.
