The Service

Northumberland County Council are looking for a skilled individual to assist in the delivery of our IT Support Service



The role

The role will be predominantly working within the System Support Team, with an opportunity to work with other teams available. Applicants should have experience within the IT sector preferably with some of that time spent in a service desk environment. The job involves working with multiple stakeholders across many sites and exemplary soft skills are required. The successful candidate will have experience installing and troubleshooting a variety of software packages.

Essential requirements:

A technical qualification or evidence of competency in IT
Actively undertaking on-going continuous professional and personal development
Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification
Has a good appreciation of the wider field of information systems, their use in relevant employment areas and how they relate to the business activities of the employer or client.
Maintains an awareness of developing technologies and their application and takes some responsibility for personal development.
Able to absorb new technical information and applies it effectively.
Proactive and achievement orientated
Demonstrates an analytical and systematic approach to problem solving.
Takes the initiative in identifying and negotiating appropriate development opportunities.
Demonstrates effective communication skills.
Contributes fully to the work of teams.
Plans, schedules and monitors own work (and that of others, where applicable), competently within limited deadlines and according to relevant legislation and procedures.
Conducts investigations of operational problems, makes proposals for improvement and implements them when appropriate. Participates in reviews of systems performance, provides advice and assistance
Has responsibility for complex and highly connected ICT, therefore requiring considerable precision and accuracy of support activities to minimise the impact on business.
