JOB DESCRIPTION: Working within the Housing Regeneration and Investment Team you will work towards understanding the service and ultimately help with the effective delivery of home adaptations (funded through Disabled Facilities Grants) to residents in their homes.

As an apprentice you will work towards possessing sound technical knowledge and a knowledge of relevant legislation including (but not limited to) the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996. In addition to this you will work towards understanding compliance with appropriate CDM and Health and Safety legislation including the Council’s internal Asbestos Management arrangements ensuring compliance. You will be supported by the Team Leader and the DFG Technical Officers.
The role will provide knowledge of contract administration and contract management, visiting properties, CAD drawings to name a few, to provide much needed adaptations to residents homes to ensure they can remain at home or aid discharge from hospital.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: All candidates are required to meet the essential requirements set out below. Please address in your application how you meet the following:

• Minimum 5 GCSEs Grade C/4 or above or equivalent Level 2 qualifications (must include English & Maths)
• Related BTEC qualification at Level 3 or 2 x relevant STEM A-Levels
• Excellent IT Skills including ability to use Microsoft Office e.g. Word and Excel.
• Good Communication and Interpersonal skills
• Be articulate and able to converse confidently in a pleasant and professional manner.
• Ability to work in an organised and methodical way to analyse and solve problems
• Numerate and have the ability to copy/transfer information accurately.

APPRENTICESHIP QUALIFICATION: You will be given appropriate paid time off work, to attend College and work towards completion of Level 4 in Construction Design and Build Technician. PLEASE NOTE: You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in the same or similar subject.

APPRENTICESHIP BENEFITS: We offer an excellent benefits package for apprentices. You will be given a fixed term contract allowing you sufficient time to complete your apprenticeship qualification (see below), with the potential to secure a longer-term position to grow within the organisation. We will provide you with a dedicated Mentor to support you during your apprenticeship and you will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement as well as access to a number of additional employee benefits and additional learning and development opportunities.

SALARY: £9.62per hour, £18,562per year
