Northumberland County Council would like to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Virtual School Educational Psychologist to join our multi-disciplinary team that supports the education of looked after children and care leavers.
As a Virtual School, we are committed to the application of educational and psychological research to improve outcomes for looked after children and previously looked after children. We seek to promote the use of inclusive, evidence-based, practices to help children and young people overcome barriers to educational achievement; social and emotional well-being; and mental health.
The post holder will provide an educational psychology service to children, teachers, schools, and settings and work as part of the care team. Undertaking initial assessments on entry to care to give all parties a detailed understanding of the looked after child's needs and offering support as required is an integral part of the role.
The post holder will contribute to the further development of Virtual School training, inclusion, and SEND initiatives, attend Personal Education Plan meetings and care team meetings as and when required.
