Business Adviser & Coach Consultant - Peer to Peer
Tees Valley Combined Authority
Tees Valley is where five distinct boroughs come together to make one exceptional destination in which to invest, live, work and visit.
The Tees Valley Combined Authority has made huge progress since its creation in 2016, taking on devolved responsibilities from Government for transport, infrastructure, skills, business investment, and developing local collaborations on culture, tourism and housing.
These powers are backed up by substantial funding, a ten-year plan (approved in 2019) outlines how £588million worth of spending will support the creation of 16,785 jobs and an additional £1.48billion to the area’s economic output.
The investment plan, which supports the delivery of the Combined Authority’s Strategic Economic Plan was first launched in 2017 and includes £20million for a major transformational project in each of the five local authority boroughs, and an indigenous Growth Fund of £50million to improve and revitalise towns and communities.
We’re proud of our historical impact across the globe – from celebrated explorers and introducing the first passenger railway to providing the steel that built the modern world.
That legacy lives on today in the area’s rail and engineering industries, our deep-sea port and advanced manufacturing heart. Tees Valley is also a dynamic business location for digital and creative technologies, and a leading destination for process industry and new energy companies.
We love our diverse region, the five boroughs and their unique strengths that make Tees Valley greater than the sum of its parts, where the industrial skyline impressively frames rolling green landscapes and beautiful coastlines. A place of cultural and economic growth.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Adviser/Coach Consultant dedicated to the Peer to Peer Programme.
The Peer Networks Programme is funded by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in response to a commitment made in the 2019 Business Productivity Review. The programme’s long-term objectives are focused on reducing the UK productivity gap by helping business leaders find practical solutions to strategic and operational challenges. The programme also aims to provide actionable insight to tackle the short-term issues and those related to COVID-19.
Peer Networks is a programme delivered by Tees Valley Business within the Tees Valley Combined Authority. We are establishing diverse cohort groups to collaboratively work through common business issues. Through interactive action learning, we will enable participants to discuss their own challenges, gain and reflect on valuable feedback and implement practical solutions to overcome them. From finance and HR to sales, marketing and more, expert facilitators give business leaders the flexibility to create a trusted support network that works for them, helping them to build and strengthen their business and improve its overall performance.
The initial contract length is due to the way we are funded, we do however want the successful candidates to remain with us for much longer, so we expect the successful candidate to remain with us beyond March 2022 (once our future funding has been confirmed).
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player and hold a relevant Level 3 qualification, along with previous experience in a similar role.
The Business Adviser/coach role will be dedicated to the Peer to Peer programme and the successful applicant will primarily focus on working direct with business owners and a wide range of stakeholders in order to promote participation, generate referrals and to promote the take-up of the Peer to Peer programme. They will be proactively engaging with companies to promote the benefits of both one to one and group mentoring support. This will also involve signposting and making introductions to other business support programmes depending on needs of the business identified.
We are looking for someone with knowledge of leadership and management initiatives and approaches and an understanding of mentoring, coaching and peer to peer learning particularly to support entrepreneurs, leaders and executives. Ideally with demonstrable experience of working to promote business growth and/or personal development.
