ESF - Project Performance Officer
Tees Valley Combined Authority
In partnership with the European Social Fund
Location: Stockton-on-Tees

Tees Valley is where five distinct boroughs come together to make one exceptional destination in which to invest, live, work and visit.

The Tees Valley Combined Authority has made huge progress since its creation in 2016, taking on devolved responsibilities from Government for transport, infrastructure, skills, business investment, and developing local collaborations on culture, tourism and housing.

These powers are backed up by substantial funding, a ten-year plan (approved in 2019) outlines how £588million worth of spending will support the creation of 16,785 jobs and an additional £1.48billion to the area’s economic output.

The investment plan, which supports the delivery of the Combined Authority’s Strategic Economic Plan was first launched in 2017 and includes £20million for a major transformational project in each of the five local authority boroughs, and an indigenous Growth Fund of £50million to improve and revitalise towns and communities.

We’re proud of our historical impact across the globe – from celebrated explorers and introducing the first passenger railway to providing the steel that built the modern world.
That legacy lives on today in the area’s rail and engineering industries, our deep-sea port and advanced manufacturing heart. Tees Valley is also a dynamic business location for digital and creative technologies, and a leading destination for process industry and new energy companies.

We love our diverse region, the five boroughs and their unique strengths that make Tees Valley greater than the sum of its parts, where the industrial skyline impressively frames rolling green landscapes and beautiful coastlines. A place of cultural and economic growth.

We have an exciting opportunity for Project Performance officer to join our existing team, to deliver an exciting and transformational European Social Fund (ESF) Workforce Skills development project, in partnership with Teesside University.

The Project Performance Officer role will provide on-going support to the Project Manager and team to support the administration and performance management of the Skills for Growth Project.

The Combined Authority is looking for an individual with a track record and knowledge of developing, enhancing, and implementing effective monitoring processes and financial data gathering to ensure the collation of information to support delivery and closure of the project. An understanding of European Social Fund processes and guidelines to meet contractual obligations is a distinct advantage.

The successful candidate will also have experience of using a wide range of IT platforms such as Microsoft packages, particularly excel and funding software programmes together with strong analytical and attention to detail skills.

The post holder will be located within the well-established Education, Employment and Skills team that are leading on the transformation of the skills and employment agenda in Tees Valley. With the announcements made by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the March 2021 budget for the Tees Valley region, this is an exciting time to be joining the Combined Authority to support SMEs in their endeavours for business growth, preparing for the exciting new jobs that will be created by the ambitious regeneration programmes, whilst supporting Tees Valley residents to have increased access to these jobs and training opportunities.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player with a strong demonstrable track record and experience in effective monitoring processes, recording, evidence keeping and submission of complex data, claims and financial information to meet requirements.

Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information, and knowledge of data protection and data security, where relevant with a proven competency to collate, interpret and communicate complex technical information to assist project manager in meeting contractual information to funding authority.
