Children's & Joint Commissioning Services have three full time vacancies in the newly created Social Work Academy. This is a very exciting opportunity to sample the various disciplines within Children’s Services over a 12 month period before joining a Safeguarding, Assessment & Support team (SAS).

The successful applicants will go on placement within the Children’s Hub gaining vital experience processing and progressing referrals, Through Care, working with Looked After Children, Care Leavers and within the Fostering Team. Additionally the successful applicants will complete a placement within the Early Help Team before joining a SAS team on a permanent basis.

If during the 12 month period a vacancy becomes available within a SAS team an academy Social Worker will be appointed immediately into that post

The SAS teams provide a comprehensive social work service from the point of single assessment through to work on a long term basis. The team support children in need, including those in need of protection by assessing need, creating packages of support and managing risk.

Our recent Ofsted ILAC inspection and focused visit judged us as being ‘good’ regarding the effectiveness of our safeguarding services and outcomes for children and young people and outstanding for services to Looked After Children. You should possess or graduate this year with a social work qualification at a degree or diploma level (or equivalent).

In Hartlepool we take pride in the fact we have consistently promoted Social Workers from within the service to the role of Assistant Team Manager and Team Manager. This is testament to the commitment, dedication and faith we have in our staff team.

The welfare of our staff is paramount and during the Covid pandemic we have ensured that all safety measures are in place and risk assessments have been completed to cover office/home working, home visiting and face to face contact with parents/carers and their children.
