Service Manager, Safeguarding Children Unit / FDAC (Family Drug and Alcohol Court) – partnership between Gateshead, Newcastle and North Tyneside Councils.

The post attracts a 7.5% Additional Responsibility Payment for holding temporary responsibility for the Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) to be reviewed in February 2022. This is reflected in the salary shown.

We are looking to appoint a Service Manager to provide strategic leadership, planning and robust performance management and oversight of:

Child Protection Conferences
Children in our Care Reviews
Foster Care reviews
Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)
Childrens Rights

You will also lead the specialist multi-disciplinary FDAC team including developing close links with the FDAC National Unit and representing FDAC North East at key strategic partnerships

You must hold a Social Work qualification to degree level or equivalent and be Social Work England registered.

You must have effective people management, performance management and quality assurance within a children’s services setting to ensure the focus is always on achieving better outcomes for children, young people and their families with the provision of the highest possible professional standards of social work.

You must have significant post-qualifying experience in children & families social work settings and experience of leadership in a complex organisational environment. Knowledge of health and social care systems, children’s legislation, practice and procedures and safeguarding and regulatory frameworks are also essential.

You must have a proven track record of Multi agency / partnership working with other statutory and voluntary agencies at a senior management level and chairing complex and challenging meetings.

You will have experience of multi agency / partnership working and have a clear commitment to equal opportunities and anti-oppressive practice.

As this is a key managerial post you will be adept at financial management within large organisations and have highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare complex reports.
