Social Worker – Connected Carers
(Fostering Service, Connected Carers Team, MarketPlace, South Shields)
£30,451 to £37,890 pa Career Grade (Bar at £32,234 & £33,782 & £35,745)

An exciting employment opportunity has arisen for a social worker to join the growing and developing Connected Carers Team.

South Tyneside Council is committed to supporting children to remain within their birth families and networks, when it is safe for them to do so and also recognises that caring for children in connected care arrangements can be hugely rewarding yet challenging at times. The Connected Carers Team undertakes focussed and specialised assessments of connected carers and delivers tailored support to connected care families.

We are looking for a child focussed, skilled and enthusiastic person to join the service. The role involves undertaking assessment at a number of different stages of planning for children, with this work presented in a number of forums, including to court within legal proceedings. Candidates must have experience in the completion of good quality evidence-based assessments, be able to manage time effectively, hold a relevant social work qualification and be able to build effective working relationships with children, families and partner agencies. As part of an innovative team, staff need to be dynamic, and able to adjust their approach, as we learn more about how to best support connected care families and respond to this learning.

Staff within the Connected Carers Team will work with key partners to develop a shared understanding of the service and to gather feedback to help shape further development.

Please see the attached job description and person specification which provides more detail about the role. If you would like to discuss this post in more detail please contact Lisa Henderson, Practice Manager on (0191) 4244207.

South Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant pre-employment checks.

Closing date: Noon, 23 July 2021.

Interviews will take place on 10 August 2021.
