Sunderland College, part of EPNE group, is one of the Northeast’s largest providers of post-16 education and training and an ongoing and significant contributor to the local community. The Directions area is a dedicated programme for young people with a wide range of Special Educational Needs. We work with young people and a wide range of stakeholders to progress behaviours attitudes and understanding around the Pathway for Adulthood framework.

We are looking for a hard-working and collaborative person who can join our team and help challenge our students to progress and achieve their aspirations.

You will be a confident and committed Speech and Language Therapist, able to work in a person-centred way to enable learners to progress on course, achieve their aspirations and work towards independence. The young people that you will work with will be aged between 16-24 and have complex and challenging needs with levels ranging from Pre Entry to Level 2 .The core aim of the team is to work with and support learners to progress through the development of their communication, interaction, employability social and emotional development needs.

To be successful you will be educated to degree level in speech and language therapy and a registered member of RCSLT. You will have had relevant experience of carrying out assessment and supporting learners with specific learning difficulties/learning disabilities including ASC.

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work with the teaching, support staff and the wider multi-disciplinary team in supporting speech and language development.

Due to the nature of this post you will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure Check.
