Are you passionate, motivated and enthusiastic about working with young carers and their families? Do you have a sound knowledge of child development, safeguarding, and assessment? Are you passionate about making a difference and want to help us improve the lives of young carers? If so, we would love to hear from you.

Family Action is a charity committed to building stronger families by delivering innovative and effective services and support that reaches out to many of the UK’s most vulnerable children, young people and their families. The Bridge Young Carers service achieves that aim through providing support to young carers and their families. We aim to ensure that young carers are protected from inappropriate caring and have the support they need to make healthy choices and have the best start in life.

We are looking for a Young Carers Practitioner who will ensure that both children and parents receive integrated, coordinated, multi-agency and solution focused support.

You will need enthusiasm, a creative approach to your work and an ability to engage positively with a wide range of people. A sound knowledge of the specific needs of young carers and the ability to work as part of a multi-agency team. Preferably you will have experience in lead professional roles.

You must have access to a vehicle for business purposes and be able to travel frequently, sometimes at short notice, across the County Durham area.

Family Action welcomes applications from all sections of the community. We are committed to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in all that we do and know that greater diversity will lead to even greater results for families and children. What will we offer you?

We’ll offer you flexible working hours, a generous pension scheme and leave entitlements, eye care vouchers, a cycle to work scheme and other great benefits. We have an excellent wellbeing offer and we’ll invest in your professional development with on-going quality training and career development opportunities. You’ll join an established, supportive and high-performing service and have the opportunity to thrive in an innovative, non-hierarchal organisation that values your opinion, encourages learning and has the needs of children and families at its core.

We are forward looking, ambitious and committed to continuous improvement. We are a people focused, can-do organisation, which strives for excellence in all we do and operates with mutual respect. If you share these values and behaviours and have the necessary skills then we look forward to hearing from you.
