Sunderland City Council’s Environmental Services Fixed Play Park Team is currently seeking to recruit an extremely hands-on and well organised assistant technician to join its Fixed Play Park Equipment Maintenance Team. The right candidate will have an extremely practical focus, a keen eye for detail, and will learn to assist in all manner of routine repairs on a variety of fixed play park equipment situated throughout the City. As part of the team and with the training provided, the successful applicant will be learn to assist in all manner of recorded safety inspections and help to ensure that any issues reported by the general public, other staff, or found through regular safety inspections, are rectified in a timely manner.
The successful applicant will be extremely comfortable working in a highly practical role – sometimes at height, and will support the Fixed Play Technicians in all manner of repairs. A familiarity with all manner of garage and fitting shop type equipment, joinery tools, and various methods of painting will be beneficial, and comprehensive on the job training will be provided as part of the assistant role.
Candidates should have a full UK driving licence and those shortlisted for interviewing will be asked to submit a copy of any related qualifications or accreditations and a valid UK driving licence at the time of interview.
This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
