Sunderland City Council’s Environmental Services Fixed Play Park team is currently seeking to recruit an extremely hands-on and highly organised individual to join its expanding Fixed Play maintenance team. The right candidate will have an extremely practical focus, a keen eye for detail, and be able to perform all manner of routine repairs to a variety of fixed play park equipment situated throughout the city. As part of the team and using the training provided, the successful applicant will be responsible for the recorded safety inspection of play park equipment and ensuring that any issues reported by the general public, other staff, or found through regular safety inspections, are rectified as quickly and safely as possible.

The successful applicant will be confidant working with minimum supervision in a highly practical role – sometimes at height, and will have no difficulty following detailed manufacturer instructions, and will easily understand technical specifications and the importance of tolerances provided amongst product data material. A strong familiarity with all manner of garage and fitting shop type equipment, joinery tools, various methods of painting, groundworks and the use of abrasive wheels is essential.

Candidates will have a full UK driving licence, and there is a business desire for candidates to be licensed to drive vehicles weighing up to 7.5 tons and hold a valid CPC card. Candidates shortlisted for interviewing will be asked to submit a copy of any related qualifications or accreditations, and a valid UK driving licence at the time of interview.

This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
