Further Information
Hartlepool is a vibrant and energetic town with growing prospects. As an authority we want to make Hartlepool the best it possibly can be and want dedicated, driven and committed staff to help us achieve that. In return we can offer a range of benefits including the equivalent of 26 days paid holiday per year (which increases to 31 after 5 years’ service) plus Bank Holidays (pro rata based on length of shift); access to a Local Government Career Average Pension Scheme with employer contributions; generous Family friendly schemes such as Emergency Dependents Leave; Occupational Maternity, Adoption, Paternity and Sick Pay entitlements (subject to eligibility) and access to discounts and savings on everyday purchases and days out to name but a few.

As part of a joint working arrangement with Cleveland Police, the Community Safety Team covers a wide range of enforcement responsibilities. You will engage with businesses and members of the public to ensure compliance with a number of regulations including those around parking and traffic management, dog control, littering and fly tipping. Your responsibilities will include issuing Penalty Charge Notices, Fixed Penalty Notices and being involved in prosecutions.

Due to the nature of the job, you will be required to wear a uniform and work outdoors, sometimes in poor weather, as you will be carrying out patrols on foot for most of the working day. The shift pattern covers every day (including most Bank Holidays) and you will usually work 4 days out of 7 each week. Any time there is a requirement to carry out enforcement outside of the core hours of 8am – 6pm, overtime rates are payable.

Whilst previous experience would be a bonus, full training will be given. It is more important to us that you genuinely enjoy working with people; have good interpersonal and communication skills; can work with minimum supervision and have the ability to deal with people firmly and professionally in what can sometimes be difficult circumstances. What is essential is that you have a current full UK driving licence to enable you to respond quickly to issues around the town.
