Following a comprehensive Service Review of the Community Occupational Therapy Team, North Tyneside Council are looking to recruit two highly motivated, permanent, full time Occupational Therapist Assistants. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful post holder to join the service at the beginning of a period of change and service development.

You will work as part of a team to provide telephone triage, advice, information, assessments and rehabilitation, assistive technology solutions and rapid response to ensure that care planning and service reviews of customers, their carers and equipment is of the highest standard, whilst employing a ‘Ways to Wellbeing Approach’.to assessments This will be undertaken whilst adhering to regulatory standards, relevant legislation, agreed eligibility criteria’s as well as managing and identifying risk, and adhering to Council policies and procedures.

Qualifications required NVQ Level 3 in Social Care, or Diagnostic / Therapeutic, Promoting Independence or CSC - Certificate in Social Care or BTEC Higher National Certificate in Health/Social Care or 5 GCSE's (Grades A-C).

You must have an excellent telephone manner, good communication skills and have good computer skills. You will be expected to undertake relevant administrative duties, including the recording of information resulting from the assessment process.

You will be responsible for the assessment, demonstration, provision, and fitting of equipment including assistive technology solutions where necessary, to promote independence in activities of daily living within the home. Training on these tasks will be provided to the successful applicant.

You will be employed within the Community Occupational Therapy team to work alongside colleagues across Social Care, Health, Housing and Children’s Services. You must have a ‘can do’ approach to managing your workload and meeting individual and team targets.

The Community Occupational Therapy Service is committed to supporting Customers of our service, their families and carers with appropriate assessments and interventions whilst giving a tailored response to support people to live independently, well and safeguarded.
