Following a comprehensive Service Review of the Community Occupational Therapy Team, North Tyneside Council are looking to recruit a highly motivated, permanent, full time Senior Occupational Therapist. You must have a solution focussed approach to problem solving and be committed to working alongside the manager to develop a highly effective and efficient service to meet the needs of both internal and external partners. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful post holder to join the service at the beginning of a period of change and service development.
You will work with a team of therapists to provide high quality assessments and rehabilitation, assistive technology solutions and rapid response to ensure that care planning and service reviews of customers, their carers and equipment is of the highest standard, whilst employing a ‘Ways to Wellbeing Approach’ to assessment. This will be undertaken whilst adhering to regulatory standards, relevant legislation, agreed eligibility criteria’s as well as managing and identifying risk, and adhering to Council policies and procedures.
You will be expected to provide effective leadership and change management to the community Occupational Therapy team working alongside colleagues across Social Care, Health, Housing and Children’s Services. You must have a ‘can do’ approach to managing challenges within the service or within assessment outcomes, be proactive in supervising people, including management tasks such as day to day management of the service in the absence of the manager including decision making, supervision, monitoring of team and individual targets and developing a successful team. You will need experience of negotiating and managing potential conflict and achieving successful resolutions. You will ensure that both individual and team targets are promoted and achieved. You must also have experience of successfully co-ordinating services for people with complex needs whilst working in partnership with both internal and external partners or agencies.
Qualifications and requirements of the post
- Qualified Occupational Therapist (minimum of two years)
- The ability to work to a high standard even during periods of uncertainty.
- The ability to work within a political context
- Must be able to meet the travelling requirements of the post
- Due to the nature of the role you should hold a full UK driving licence and be flexible to the needs of the service.
