A vacancy has arisen within the Adult and Health Services Finance Team for a permanent Principal Accountancy Assistant.
The post holder will provide comprehensive financial support to service managers ensuring that available resources are maximised and public funds are safeguarded at all times.
The post holder will be directly accountable to the Principal Accountant and will cover a range of duties and responsibilities offering excellent opportunity to widen experience and develop skills in working cooperatively as a business partner with key services.
Durham County Council is committed to supporting the training and development of staff with in house training provision and, where appropriate, opportunities to pursue further relevant enhanced qualifications.
The successful applicant will have significant involvement with service representatives and will support the annual budget cycle, undertaking timely budget setting, monitoring, closure of accounts and completion of statutory Government returns.
This current vacancy provides support to the Adult and Health Service, however, there may be other Principal Accountancy Assistant vacancies arise in the future which will be based within other finance teams. If this should happen within 6 months, we will revisit this recruitment episode to appoint.
