An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Duty to Refer Officer who will work within the Council’s Housing Options Team. The purpose of the role is to action referrals received under the ‘Duty to Refer’ from other Public Sector Organisations such as prisons, probation and social services.

The focus of the role is to create partnerships with Public Bodies who fall under the category of Duty to Refer. The aim is for those being referred to have suitable accommodation options prior to becoming homeless. This will involve assessing their short-term and long-term accommodation needs as well as ensuring access to all necessary support providers and networks.

The successful applicant should have a background in working with vulnerable customers who have a range of support needs.

Applicants will have:

Applicants should have experience of working within homelessness or a support related service, have a good understanding of the Homeless Reduction Act 2017, and have a passion for supporting vulnerable people to enable them to enhance their lives within independent living.

You should have experience of partnership working, have knowledge and understanding of the challenge’s vulnerable homeless clients face and the ability to identify any health or safeguarding needs.

You should also have a good track record of providing and delivering effective solutions for housing, vulnerable people and homeless people.
