This post is based at the centre of the council in the Resources Directorate which has key responsibility for managing the council’s money and people, as well as ensuring that democratic decisions are well informed and legally sound.
The Council is seeking to recruit three Accountants who will be based at the centre of the Council, in the Resources Directorate, which has key responsibility for managing the Council’s money and people as well as ensuring that democratic decisions are well informed and legally sound.

You will provide financial advice and support to a range of services across the Council and in particular will provide a high level of quality in financial management in relation to the following functional areas:
• Medium Term Financial Planning and Budget setting - including funding and revenue budget setting
• Supporting the development of business cases for an extensive and ambitious capital investment programme across the Council which requires a strong understanding of the long term financial benefits of this programme.
• A variety of commercial developments and environmental projects which require high quality financial information to successfully deliver.
• Driving improvements in the way we provide financial and performance management support to our customers.
The role requires strong and effective communication skills, including the ability to deal with customers who possess varying levels of financial skill.
The council holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.
