The Internal Audit and Risk Service operates at the core of the Council's operations. The Service is focused on the optimisation and safeguarding of financial and other resources, delivered through investigative work, reviewing controls, knowledge and advice.

Internal Audit and Risk includes the Council’s Corporate Fraud function. An opportunity has arisen for motivated Corporate Fraud Officer.

The post holder will be required to:
• Carry out investigations and interviews with regard to potentially fraudulent and irregular activity in accordance with the Council’s Counter Fraud and Corruption Strategy.
• Maintain accurate records on investigations, visits and sanctions.
• Prepare and maintain case files, risk assessments, reports, statements, interview transcripts and other documentary evidence to support prosecutions and/or other administrative action resulting from investigations, with due compliance to relevant legislation.
• Ensure the assets and resources are accounted for properly and safeguarded from loss

Starting salary will be dependent upon knowledge and experience as detailed in the profile, you will be AAT qualified or have an equivalent level qualification in an investigative field, have experience of Local government finance environment, relevant counter fraud qualification and have a minimum of 1 year satisfactory post qualification experience. If the successful candidate does not have a relevant counter fraud qualification the necessary training to attain this will be provided.

The post will include both homeworking and time in the office.
