Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is pleased to announce an exciting job opportunity as a Community Development Officer in our Community Development Team. The team you will be working in is the Empowering Communities Team which is a very diverse and rewarding team. The team work closely with communities and elected members as well as all departments across Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and external organisations. As part of this team, it is important to support the specific wards of Kirkleatham, Newcomen and Dormanstown and support organisations to access grants; while working in partnership with a team of seven other Community Development Officers, it is important to report your work and demonstrate its impact within the individual communities you support.

We are looking for an experienced person who has worked in Community Development and is a problem solver and is used to dealing with members of the community at all levels including businesses and colleagues from other departments of the council, public sector organisations and the voluntary community sector. Working with and supporting councillors is a key delivery element of the role and being a budget manager for the elected members wards allowance ensuring all aspects are facilitated correctly.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, positive individual who is self-motivated and able to work using their own initiative as well as being a team player. The successful candidate will be committed to providing excellent service and be willing to learn and develop their knowledge.
