Director of Housing and Property Services - Grade 24 - £100,218 pa
North Tyneside is a great place to live, work and visit, with a range of housing, great schools, strong transport links and a fabulous environment that connects country, river and award-winning coast. As a council we punch above our weight, and we have an Elected Mayor and Cabinet with clear ambitions for the Borough. Together, we are determined to deliver high performing local services and make a success of our communities and economy, and with an agreed Local Plan there is a fifteen year vision for how the Borough might look in the medium to long term. The creation of the North of Tyne Combined Authority is another exciting development which will enable closer collaboration and synergies across the sub-region.
We’re on an exciting journey of growth and change, and we want every child, citizen and place to take part. And housing is a vital part of our plans. We are looking for an inspirational Director of Housing and Property Services who can deliver the priorities of the Mayor and Cabinet to deliver 5,000 new homes, finding creative ways to tackle derelict properties that belong to others and the delivery of our two strategic sites at Murton Gap and Killingworth Moor working with partners to create sustainable communities.
This is a wide-ranging role with big opportunities to shape our housing programme and vastly improve our residents’ lives. Reporting to our Chief Executive, you will take our strategic vision and make it a reality, creating practical plans and seeing them through to completion. You will also be an important leader of organisation, acting as Director of our Trading Company, making a crucial contribution to our work to respond to the Climate Emergency and to tackle inequalities.
We’re looking for a proven leader with considerable experience in a similar environment. You’ll have a deep knowledge of housing strategy and a track record of delivering major schemes and can and will play a leading role in the future of North Tyneside Council.
