An opportunity has arisen within our adult mental health service for a part-time Consultant Social Worker to work with the Think ahead Programme.

It has become one of the country’s most competitive graduate schemes, with high-profile support across the political spectrum, extensive media coverage, and high levels of applications for each place on the programme.

• Attract outstanding people top enter mental health social work Including within older person services.
• Promote excellence in training, to create superb mental health social workers.
• Spread social approaches to mental health across society.

Consultant Social Workers
Consultant Social Workers play a crucial role in supporting and developing Think Ahead participants become outstanding social workers. You will share a caseload with Think Ahead participants, who are placed in a community mental health team. Providing practice support at an advanced level, you will teach participants a range of assessment and intervention skills in the application of social approaches to mental health practice. Consultant Social Workers form outstanding practice learning experiences, they recognise that social work plays a vital role in improving adult mental health services achieve better outcomes for our service users and communities. Possessing advanced social work skills, successful applicants will model exceptional leadership and skill in developing social work being recognised as a highly valued part of multiagency mental health practice.

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Social Worker to work on a part time basis alongside an existing unit and Consultant Social Worker. You will support the expansion of the program in preparation for our partnership with Think Ahead and for arrival of our next cohort of participants.

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced social workers to stay in frontline practice whilst gaining management experience.

Applicants should be social work qualified at degree level, as well as being progressed at advanced qualification level of practice and current Social Work England registration.
