The Service
The Economy and Regeneration service sits within the Regeneration, Economy and Commercial Directorate of the Council. The Service has 47 staff whose core purpose is to deliver the Council’s priority of Economic Growth. This includes influencing national and regional policy and co-ordinating and driving forward the delivery and management of regeneration and economic growth projects. It also includes the acquisition and management of external funding, including Borderlands Growth Deal, North of Tyne Combined Authority Investment Funding, European Structural Funds and Central Government Initiatives.

Reporting directly to the Regeneration Investment Funding Manager, you will contribute to the external funding advice function to support the Council and External organisations to maximise the value of external funds secured.

The Role
The Regeneration Programmes Investment Team is looking for an experienced External Funding Officer to become part of the team, able to research, co-ordinate and support the development of funding bids to secure external resources to enable the delivery of strategically important projects.

This is a full time, permanent position.

On behalf of the Council, the role will require you to:
Horizon scan external funding opportunities and advise services on funding opportunities available.

Research funding programmes and work with project teams/services to identify potential funding sources that could be aligned to corporate priorities/projects, including identifying and prioritising funding opportunities.

Provide professional advice to senior managers and project leads on appropriate funding sources. Forward plan with services to position the Council as near to ‘bid ready’ as possible for anticipated external funding opportunities.

The successful candidate will:
- Be experienced in working with internal and external stakeholders in developing and delivering a wide range of external funding engagement activity and building productive partnerships.
- Possess high levels of energy, focus and resilience, and an ability to deliver at pace, often meeting tight deadlines.
-You will possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team, guide non-specialists and negotiate with partners and funding organisations.
The ability to converse at ease with Partners and provide advice in accurate spoken and written English is essential for the post.
