An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within Fleet Services at Gateshead Council.

Gateshead Council currently maintains and operates approximately 500 fleet vehicles and plant equipment including refuse collection vehicles, gritters and tractors as well as vans and mini-buses. We are looking to appoint a Vehicle Workshop Fitter to provide support to the provision of a vehicle and plant maintenance service. We are looking for someone who has experience of working in a customer focused services, with effective oral and written communication skills. You must also work as part of a team to deliver a high standard of service. You must have appropriate City & Guilds Motor Vehicle Maintenance qualifications or equivalent and a full current driving licence.

You must have experience of light welding, vehicle and equipment recovery and driving a range of vehicle types.

It is also desirable if you hold a HGV driving licence and Forklift qualification.
