Salary: Soulbury Scale B Points 5 to 8, plus SPA points. (Pay review pending)

Durham Educational Psychology Service leads a highly valued and expanding Specialist Inclusion Support Service organised in four Locality EP Teams, and a further eight teams offering specialist inclusion support. As a Senior EP in Durham you will support the practice of a group of EPs in addition to having dedicated time to undertake a strategic lead role for an area of inclusive practice within the service and Local Authority.

We are looking for creative and enthusiastic colleagues with good interpersonal and communication skills to join the Educational Psychology Service in Durham. This post is available as a result of retirement of the previous postholder, and in joining us the successful applicant will be part of Durham’s Educational Psychology team providing a wide range of interventions and projects within schools and Early Years Settings. It sits within the broader context of a vibrant Specialist SEND and Inclusion Service with a range of psychology led multidisciplinary teams offering excellent professional support and development and career opportunities. A successful applicant would be expected to provide leadership and management with the support of the Principal Educational Psychologist and Management team, as well as continuing to provide some EP support to a group of schools/settings. The role offers a good balance of work at all levels of the system for an experienced EP who is keen to have influence in shaping the system in which they work.

We offer an excellent induction package and supervision as well peer support. The service has a commitment to supporting staff to follow their own professional interests and have a strong programme of continuing professional development. The Service has a central office base and is supported by a co located dedicated business administration team and car parking. EPs are able to work in a hybrid model: combining office based work, working from home, and hot desks available across the County.


Applicants will need a first degree in Psychology and a recognised post graduate doctorate qualification in Educational Psychology, appropriate experience working as an EP and be able to meet the requirements for registration with the Health Care Professions Council.

Own transport or means of mobility essential as you will be required to travel around the Local Authority.
