The Service
The Community and Environmental Health Team (CEHT) is part of the Council’s Housing and Public Protection Service which is responsible for a wide range of regulatory functions including Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Building Control and Environmental Enforcement as well as the management of the Council’s housing stock.

With 18 staff the CEHT areas of responsibilities include, noise control and other nuisance investigation, housing standards, public health and both operational and strategic community safety. Reporting to the Senior Environmental Health Officer (Nuisance), the successful applicant will form part of a five-person team leading on noise control and other nuisance investigation.

This is fast paced environment with a focus on outcomes for residents with a highly varied workload reflecting the mixed urban and rural character of the County.

The Role
The post holder will manage a varied caseload of nuisance and nuisance related work. This will include liaison with the public, updating case records, evidence gathering in accordance with appropriate legislative frameworks, site visits, the use of technical equipment and progression of cases through appropriate enforcement pathways.

Candidates should have significant experience of nuisance investigation and a detailed understanding of appropriate legal frameworks. Experience of Community Safety or the investigation of anti-social behaviour would be desirable.

A strong commitment to self development is essential as is the ability to work to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and undertake project work.

Essential requirements:
- Applicants must possess:
- 2 Science A levels or NVQ Level 3 equivalents
- Have some experience in the investigation/enforcement of nuisance and the associated legal framework.
- A driving license

Desirable requirements:
- A professional qualification in acoustics or nuisance investigation.
- Experience of Community Safety or investigation of anti-social behaviour.
