Further Information
This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

We have many reasons to be proud of our existing services for children, young people and their families in Redcar and Cleveland.

We have a passionate workforce who are committed to supporting children and young people to feel safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn and achieve. We respect everyone as equally valued members of our community by listening to their views and using their opinions to help shape our services.

We are a caring and supportive team; loyal and tenacious, with integrity at the heart of everything we do.

Are you the right person to help us to develop a brighter future for our Borough's children.

If you share the ethos of Redcar and Cleveland’s Children and Families Directorate, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

Do you have time to give on an afternoon/evening and during term time? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to be part of a team of Youth Support Workers that value and support some of our local authority's most vulnerable children and young people in After School Youth Group sessions. This could be the opportunity you are looking for to shine, be a member of a team that makes a real difference to children and young people’s lives and supports the ethos of Redcar and Cleveland’s Early Help Youth & Community Service.

We are looking to recruit a number of Level 2 Children with Disabilities Youth Support Workers to lead and support in the delivery of play & activity based After School Youth Group sessions to children and young people with one to one support needs across the borough.

Our After School Youth Groups are delivered term time only up to 3 times per week late afternoon / evening for 3.5 hours each session at various locations across Redcar and Cleveland for children and young people with one to one support needs.

Starting salary is between £10.83-£11.27 per hour (NJC D) dependant on qualification and experience. Experience of working and engaging with children and young people with disabilities in an informal setting is essential.

Applicants will need to be enthusiastic, creative and have a flexible approach to responding to the needs of the service and be able to demonstrate a real commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with disabilities.

The authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children/young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an enhanced disclosure & barring service check (DBS) will be sought.

For more information or an informal discussion please contact Terry Colley on 07825228053.

The council is an ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.

We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.
