Horizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of Abbey Hill Academy, Green Gates Academy, Hollis Academy, Mo Mowlam Academy, Westlands Academy and Archway Academy. The academies serve a population of approximately 650 students aged 5 to 19 with a broad range of learning difficulties.
Abbey Hill Academy & Abbey Hill Academy Sixth Form are at the forefront of current developments in the education of young people with special needs. We specialise in meeting the needs of students aged 11 to 19 who have a full range of learning disabilities.
Abbey Hill Academy, where this post will be situated, provides for approximately 320 young people aged 11 to 19 years who have learning difficulties, as well as other physical, medical and social needs.
The academy is seeking to recruit a teacher of Music to join our team. The post is to teach students aged 11-16 with a broad range of special educational needs. The successful candidate will need to have excellent subject knowledge and be able to deliver the music curriculum to students with a wide range of ability levels. The majority of teaching will be to Key Stage 3 students working between Year 1 and Year 3 expectations. The right candidate will need to be an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher, with high expectations of our children and themselves and have the ability, perseverance and resilience to be an outstanding practitioner.
The successful candidate will be joining a Multi Academy Trust that is moving forwards and is striving for excellence. We offer a collaborative and supportive environment where staff are valued and nurtured.
Applications are welcome from newly qualified or experienced teachers from a primary or secondary background. As well as excellent curriculum knowledge, good communication and interpersonal skills, the successful candidate will have proven ability to work as part of a team of teachers and support staff. Previous experience of working with students with SEN would be desirable but not essential.
