Early Years Assessment and Intervention Team
Grade E + SSA. Full time. 37 hours per week Term Time Only.
An opportunity has arisen within the Early Years Assessment and Intervention Team (EYAIT) for a Specialist Teaching Assistant. Applicants will be expected to work flexibly where required across Gateshead.
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant (Level 3) to work with Nurseries and Pre-school settings to provide a range of specialist intervention programmes at individual child or group level to facilitate effective learning and to assist settings to build capacity through coaching and modelling.
You must have good numeracy and literacy skills and possess NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification. A good understanding of the principles of child development, learning processes and barriers to learning, and knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and of the 2-year old check are essential. A knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and its implications for practice is also essential.
You must also have experience of working flexibly across a variety of settings with pre-school children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including those with medical, behavioural and learning needs
You must hold a current driver’s license and have access to a car or means to mobility support.
