Covid-19 has highlighted the importance of nurturing locally-owned enterprises and we aspire to increase the size and diversity of our business base and increase business formation rates through the promotion of self-employment and new business start-ups.
The Council’s Business Gateshead team works with partners create an environment where businesses can start-up, locate, invest, grow and create jobs.
The role will focus primarily on providing support to residents to turn ideas in to action and help them start-up a new business or to early stage businesses and social enterprises.
The ideal candidate will be flexible to the needs of Gateshead, working with a wide range of businesses and delivering initiatives to stimulate enterprise, drive competitiveness, innovation and productivity.
With demonstratable knowledge of local economic conditions; local, national and regional business support services and business management processes, you will possess a relevant degree or equivalent qualification, substantial and relevant experience may be acceptable as an alternative, and have experience of working with businesses to influence investment decisions and collaborating with partners to deliver outcomes.
This post is part funded by the European Social Fund and any extension is subject to funding.
