Location: The Access and Safeguarding Team cover the whole of the Middlesbrough area. The service is very keen to promote flexible working for all staff. This includes agile working at home as well as other Middlesbrough Council bases.

If you are you looking for a new challenge then apply for a Social Work position in the Access Safeguarding Team! We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced or newly qualified Social Worker to join us as we add to our current workforce.

The Safeguarding Social Worker role involves working with adults over 18 who are at risk of abuse or neglect. The role will involve triaging safeguarding concerns and undertaking initial enquires in line with the Teeswide Safeguarding Board (TSAB) policies and procedures. Successful candidates must be able to evaluate and analyse information gathered and evidence sound decision making. This requires in depth knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Making Safeguarding Personal, The Human Rights Act 1998 and the Mental Capacity Act 2004.

Additional responsibilities include giving advice and guidance in relation to Safeguarding to members of the public and to professionals.

The Access Social Worker role involves working with adults over 18 who have a range of short term and long term needs for example physical or mental health needs; substance use; domestic abuse and homelessness. As part of the initial assessment process we are committed to promoting independence, offering information, advice and guidance and providing short term interventions such as reablement, where possible. Due to the varied nature of the team we are therefore looking for a social worker who is adaptable and is able to work with a varied caseload.
