Your opportunity to join our ‘Outstanding’ Company and make a difference!
We are proud that Together for Children has been rated as ‘outstanding’ in a judgement by Ofsted in 2021 in recognition of the stability of our very well supported and talented workforce who deliver an unstinting commitment to improving children’s outcomes. Join us and help us in continuing our outstanding journey!
We are seeking to appoint a number of Associate Teachers to join the Virtual School
UNIQUE SCHOOL
The Virtual School is dedicated to ensuring that Sunderland’s cared for children and young people achieve their potential. We support schools’ proactive planning, react to the unexpected and remove barriers to progress. We are looking for energetic and resilient colleagues to become part of a fantastic team who can respond quickly to the needs of some of our most vulnerable children.
UNIQUE PUPILS
Sunderland has 580+ cared for children and young people within and beyond Sunderland. The Virtual School ensures that every child (3 years – 18 years and above) receives the best start in life that we, as corporate parents, can provide. This is through supporting our cared children in their base schools.
UNIQUE ROLE
These posts are likely to appeal to teaching colleagues who enjoy working with children and young people to overcome barriers to learning. The idea of supporting looked after children and young people at mutually convenient times will appeal on a professional and personal level.
Associates will develop and deliver short term interventions in education placements with cared for children of all ages who are experiencing difficulties in engaging in learning and/or who are risk of exclusion whether fixed term or permanent.
You will be expected to actively promote inclusive practices and ensure the education, social, emotional and health development of Virtual School pupils is fully supported.
Associates will, in conjunction with the school’s Designated Teacher, actively promote inclusive practice within the classroom setting to ensure acceptance of all children and, where appropriate, encourage the use of SEND and behaviour support processes within the school base setting.
You will be prepared to work flexibly in terms of hours and location.
VIRTUAL SCHOOL POSTS ARE SUBJECT TO AN ENHANCED DBS CHECK
Closing date 28th September 2021
Interviews are scheduled for Monday 4th October 2021 & Tuesday 5th October 2021
