Fixed Term Contract until 30 November 2022 to Cover Maternity Leave

You will effectively contribute to the work of the Environmental Health Service in ensuring that South Tyneside is a clean and attractive place to live and visit, that it is safe and that it is helping create communities where people are healthy.

We are currently seeking to recruit a highly motivated Environmental Health Practitioner (Food Safety), to join our specialist Food Safety Service. You will be working as part of a team, responsible for implementing and delivering planned food hygiene and food standards inspections, investigating infectious disease cases and outbreaks, and responding to complaints, service requests and enquiries, taking necessary enforcement action to improve standards and protect public health.

You will be able to demonstrate a responsible and flexible approach and a commitment to providing a high-quality service. You will have operational experience of working within Food Safety and possess the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to be able to undertake investigations, interventions, and enforcement in this field.

Demonstration of satisfactory Competency Framework requirements, as specified in the Food Law Code of Practice, is essential for this post. You will also possess a relevant qualification in Environmental Health and certificate of registration with EHORB (or equivalent).

You will have the opportunity to participate in the Out of Hours service, this service attracts separate payments.
