We are looking for a Health and Safety Coordinator with experience of working in health and safety to join a growing team in Sunderland.

If you are a highly motivated and adaptable health and safety professional, we need you to join our multi-functional team.
This fixed term temporary position will support the existing Environmental Health and Licensing Teams and will assist in meeting increased demands following the COVID-19 pandemic. Main duties will include performing a wide range of health and safety functions, including visits, inspections, surveys and examinations of premises, practices or processes, general complaint investigations or referrals or other related safety matters. Following investigations, you will take appropriate action as authorised by the Council in accordance with procedures.

You will also assist in COVID-19 response and recovery work. Other duties will include engaging with businesses and residents to investigate a broad range of regulatory matters, providing business advice, communicating with the public, inspection of businesses and enforcement of legislation. Candidates should ideally have experience of undertaking health and safety inspections and other enforcement activity however we will consider individuals who possess other areas of specialist experience.

The post holder will also compliment and support the Council’s Commercial Team (Food and Health and Safety) in the delivery of their objectives in relation to inequalities of Public Health through the delivery of public health campaigns in areas across the City.
You will be able to communicate effectively with the ability to analyse and evaluate the results of investigations to identify and recommend appropriate action. You must have a full driving licence to be able to travel around the district.
