The Council is seeking to internal recruit two Accountants who will be based at the centre of the Council, in the Resources Directorate, which has key responsibility for managing the Council’s money and people as well as ensuring that democratic decisions are well informed and legally sound.

The two roles will provide financial advice and support to a range of services across the Council and will provide a high level of quality in financial management in relation to the following functional areas:

• Supporting the Council’s Resources and Growth Directorate in their financial planning and the delivery of various capital growth projects.
• The financial accounts closure process including capital, fixed assets, financial instruments and collection fund.
• The oversight of the delivery of various statutory financial returns to Central Government.
• Medium Term Financial Planning and Budget setting.
• Providing support on the Collection Fund accounts for business rates and council taxes.
• Supporting the consolidation and management of the capital investment programme and the development of business cases for an extensive and ambitious capital investment across the Council which requires a strong understanding of the long-term financial benefits of this programme.
• The delivery of a robust treasury management function.
• Driving improvements in the way we provide financial and performance management support to our customers.

The roles require strong and effective communication skills, including the ability to deal with customers who possess varying levels of financial skill.
