An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Environmental Health Service’s Private Sector Housing and Residential Services Team. We are looking for a motivated, reliable officer who is keen to play an active role in the improvement of property standards across the private rented sector, using a range of intervention tools including complaint investigation (property disrepair and illegal evictions) and the licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation. In particular, you will be required to engage and support both tenants and landlords and will be instrumental in helping to secure more sustainable tenancies for the longer-term. You will also provide support where needed to other members of the team and initiate enforcement action where complaints require escalation to bring about compliance.
You will play a key role in supporting Covid recovery of the team, and the local landlords and tenants who benefit from our work to promote a high level of Housing Standards compliance in South Tyneside.
You will effectively contribute to the work of the Environment Service ensuring that South Tyneside is a clean and attractive place to live and visit, that it is safe and is helping create communities where people are healthy.
