We’re currently looking for a Welfare Support Advisor (Welfare Benefits) to join our team on a full-time contract and help us deliver exciting new changes across our organisation.

The Role:
We are looking to appoint a Welfare Support Advisor on a full time, permanent basis to provide specialist welfare benefits advice to the residents of South Tyneside.
This position is based at South Shields Town Hall, however there is currently a requirement for hybrid working. You must be flexible and prepared to travel to various locations to speak to customers where required so access to a car or other means of mobility is essential.
This post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to be carried out.
About You:
The person we are looking for will have excellent knowledge of the welfare benefits system including Universal Credit and will have experience of dealing with a variety of welfare benefit cases, including benefit entitlement checks, assisting with claims for disability benefits, as well as experience of assisting with appeals up to and including representation at tribunals, income maximisation and knowledge of how Welfare Reform affects both residents and the organisation.
We are looking for a team player, who is able to apply their skills effectively, who has commitment, enthusiasm and is passionate about delivering excellent customer service and supporting colleagues in their day-to-day duties. This is a busy front-line service where you will work towards both individual and team targets.
