Further Information
The North of Tyne Combined Authority is a ground-breaking organisation, allowing the transfer of new powers and money from the Government to the North of Tyne. We are making an ambitious contribution to the lives of local people, with a clear priority to help the communities we serve to fulfil their true potential.

We are looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to support our Mayor. This is a rare opportunity to work for a senior politician in the region following the retirement of the Mayor’s assistant.

You will be the first point of contact for the Mayor’s office. You’ll need to be comfortable balancing competing demands as the best laid plans often change and sometimes at short notice. We need someone with excellent organisational skills to make sure the Mayor is in the right place at the right time with the right information.

You’ll have experience in supporting a senior organisational leader and able to establish positive relationships with a wide range of people. You will be confident in dealing with sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.

At NTCA, we don’t just accept difference, we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our team, our mission, and our residents. NTCA is proud to embrace diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.

If you’re looking for a flexible approach to work, we are operating on a hybrid model, so we would be open to discussing this with you. However, if you are looking to relocate here, then that’s great too. By coming to work in the North of Tyne, you can enjoy a fulfilling job as well as a great quality of life, with some of the UK’s most beautiful countryside and beaches on your doorstep. Our flexible approach allows employees to have a great work-life-balance, with your wellbeing at its heart.

We believe in rewarding people for their productivity, so everyone at NTCA gets automatic enrolment into the Local Government Pension Scheme, a range of salary sacrifice options, a more open leave policy (in addition to your entitled leave of a minimum of 25 days plus bank holidays) and a range of support for your wellbeing and work-life balance.
