An opportunity has arisen for a flexible and enthusiastic apprentice to join our fantastic Early Years team at St Aidan's Catholic Primary School. The successful candidate will work alongside our talented teachers and teaching assistants, and support the learning and development of our wonderful Nursery and Reception children.

What will the apprentice be doing?
- Plan and supervise child initiated and adult led activities.
- Support children to develop numeracy and language skills through games and play.
- Observes each child and shaps their learning experience to reflect their observations.
- Work in partnership with other colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals to meet the individual needs of each child.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Our apprentice will work full time in our school Early Years Unit and be supported by an in-school mentor who is an experienced EYFS educator.

You will have a tutor from Derwentside College who will visit regularly to check your progress and set appropriate learning targets.

Learning will take place online, and release time and support will be provided in order ensure you are able to meet the requirements of the course.

At the end of your course, you will receive the Early Years Educator Level 3 qualification.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Early Years Educators work in a range of settings including full day care, children’s centres, preschools, reception classes and as childminders.

Further study can be undertaken in order to gain a foundation degree or an undergraduate degree in a similar area.

Qualifications
GCSE or equivalent 5 GCSEs including Maths & English Lang (Grade Grades 5-9) Desired

Things to consider
For the right candidate, support can be provided to achieve the requisite grade in Maths and English. Previous qualifications in the sector are desirable but not essential.
