New College Durham Academies Trust (NCDAT) is seeking to appoint an exceptional, suitably experienced Finance Assistant to provide a responsive and effective service to all Trust stakeholders.

NCDAT currently comprises two secondary Academies housed in state-of-the-art facilities located in Stanley and Consett in North West Durham, where everyone matters equally. We are keen to grow the Trust and this role will be integral in our expansion plans.

Finance Assistant Grade 2 - 3

37 hours per week – £20,171 - £22,572 depending on experience.

Working closely with other members of the finance team, the successful applicant will provide responsive and efficient financial administrative support across the Trust.

The post holder will support a range of financial activities including data entry, processing invoices and purchase orders, managing petty cash accounts and processing academy sales invoices.

To succeed in this role, you must have excellent administrative skills, an eye for detail and the ability to produce accurate notes, documentation, records and reports as required. Good numeracy and literacy skills are a must and applicants will be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, exceptional organisational skills and be confident in the use of office software packages.

We are looking for someone with experience within the finance sector, preferably in a finance role within education or a local government setting (although this is not essential). There will be the opportunity to advance within your role, The Academy will support the successful candidate in completing a fully funded apprenticeship to qualify for their AAT qualification, this will also provide the successful candidate with future progression opportunity’s. The salary for this position will be determined based on experience.

RESPONSIBLE TO:

The Post Holder will be responsible to the Academy Trust Finance Officer.

GRADE/LEVEL:

Grade 2 - 3

CORE PURPOSE:

To work as part of the Administration Team providing an efficient, courteous and effective administration service to the Academy. To provide additional functions as directed by the Business Operations Manager with regard to finance.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

THE POST HOLDER WILL

• Implement the agreed vision and aims of the Academy Trust
• Set an example of personal integrity and professionalism
• Follow all agreed academy trust policies and procedures

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

• To work with budget holders across the Academy Trust to ensure compliance in the raising of purchase orders.
• To process supplier invoices/credit notes, ensuring they are correctly authorised and matched against purchase orders.
• To resolving supplier queries and act as point of contact for suppliers.
• To reconcile major supplier statements monthly.
• To deal with finance queries as required.
• Work within the parameters of the financial procedures and regulations.
• To count and prepare the banking of cash and maintenance of appropriate financial records in relation to income received.
• Record and reconcile receipts from Parentpay.
• To maintain Supplier and Customer Databases.
• To process weekly supplier payments.
• To raise sales invoices and credit notes and maintain the customer database.
• To allocated customer receipts against sales invoices ensuring these are correctly matched.
• Chase any outstanding sales invoices in a timely manner.
• Supporting the COE with the investments for the Trust, ensuring organisation is financially stable to meet the business needs.
• Manage the petty cash transactions and the topping up of the petty cash account.
• Manage the credit card transactions, ensuring these have the correct documents approved by the Credit Card Holder/Budget Holder.
• Managing the Supplier Mailbox, dealing with any invoices/credit notes, supplier statements and queries in a timely manner.
• Allocating banking transaction each month ready for bank reconciliations.
• Arranging regular budget meeting with Budget Holders to support them with their budgets. To include training of new staff on the Financial Management System
