We are looking to appoint Neighbourhood Wardens to a new Neighbourhood Protection Team. The wardens will work alongside colleagues in the City Council, Northumbria Police and Your Homes Newcastle to support engagement with communities, and help reduce anti-social behaviour and environmental crime.
We are looking for dynamic, robust individuals, who want to make a difference in the community and improve quality of life, by improving the physical appearance of the neighbourhood, building community confidence by reducing crime and fear of crime, deterring anti-social behaviour and fostering social inclusion.
The role will include the requirement to issue fixed penalty notices for offences relating to, littering, dog fouling, and waste management, and to assist in the preparation of legal files.
You should be confident in a variety of situations, able to walk for long periods of time, comfortable speaking to people and have good negotiating and observational skills. The successful candidate will have experience of applying and enforcing legislation, working with partner agencies and be a confident communicator with good organisational skills.
You must have a full valid clean UK driving licence and there will be a requirement to work flexibly to include alternating shifts, weekend, bank holidays and evening working.
We offer 24 days annual leave pro rata, plus bank holidays, rising to 28 days after 5 years. Neighbourhood Wardens work on an alternating shift pattern of day shift 08.00- 16.30 and late shift 13.30- 22.00 working 6 days on followed by 3 days off. Each shift pattern attracts payment enhancements.
