Durham County Council legal service has an opportunity for two lawyers to join their Adult Team on a permanent basis. The Team deal with a varied caseload including court of protection and deprivation of liberty, mental health, safeguarding, ordinary residence and general Care Act advice.

The ideal candidate will be qualified as a solicitor, barrister or legal executive and will have experience of the court of protection and advocacy skills, together with relevant knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Care Act.

Our three Adult Lawyers are part of a wider team which provides advice to Children’s Services. We are a busy, friendly and well-supported legal team situated in Durham City with good transport links to surrounding areas. We have embraced new ways of working and the role will predominantly feature hybrid working, offering a high level of flexibility, allowing staff to take control of their work/life balance.
