An exciting opportunity has arisen in North Tyneside Council’s Housing Options Team, for the role of Housing Option Officer (Single Persons and Rough Sleepers)

1 x 37 hours per week, fixed term for 2 years.

This is a role specifically within Housing Advice Team. To provide an effective homeless prevention service and support those at risk of homelessness, including former and current rough sleepers, single applicants whom the council may not have a statutory duty by providing advice and/or assistance with private rented sector accommodation, hostels, refuge or other means which may prevent homelessness either short or long term. You will be required to provide outreach tenancy support. Provide advice and support and signpost to relevant support and housing services. You will negotiate with landlords to prevent tenancy eviction and to end rough sleeping.

You will be an enthusiastic team player, dynamic, a great communicator, and have experience of working as part of a team. You will be able to work using your own initiative, flexible and able to occasionally work on an evening to meet the demands of the service.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 and an Enhanced DBS disclosure, including Barred List Check, will be required.
